Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 7, 2026
1. Introduction
CliBook is operated by Corevixa ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the CliBook desktop application and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 No Account Required
CliBook does not require registration or an account. You do not sign up, sign in, or provide us with any personal information — such as your name, email address, or credentials — to use the application. We do not collect or store account information of any kind.
2.2 User-Generated Content
When you use the Service, you may store:
- CLI commands and snippets
- Folder and tag structures
- Variables and parameter templates
This content is stored locally on your device in a local database and is never uploaded to our servers. Command Packs are exported and imported as plain local files that you share yourself; they are not transmitted through our infrastructure.
2.3 Network Connections
The application makes outbound network connections only for the following purposes:
- Sending AI requests directly from your device to your chosen AI provider, using the API key you supply (see Section 2.4)
- Checking for application updates, which may involve transmitting non-personally identifiable information such as the application version and operating system
- Sending an error report to Sentry, a third-party error tracking service, if the application encounters an error. Reports contain the error message, stack trace, application version, and operating system/environment information. Sensitive values — such as passwords, tokens, API keys, and authorization headers — are automatically redacted before sending. Because CliBook has no account system, reports do not contain your identity. We do not perform performance tracing or session recording.
- Sending a single anonymous launch event containing the application version, operating system version, language, and a randomly generated identifier that is not derived from your hardware or identity. It contains no personal information and no content from your library, and can be turned off in Settings → General. This mechanism is being retired and will be removed in a future release.
2.4 AI Provider API Keys
CliBook is free to use and does not process payments or collect any billing information. If you choose to use AI-powered features, you provide your own API key for a supported third-party AI provider (currently Anthropic or OpenAI). Your API key is stored only on your device, in the operating system's secure keychain (e.g., macOS Keychain). It is never written to configuration files, never uploaded, and never transmitted to or stored on our servers. AI requests are sent directly from your device to your chosen provider. You are billed directly by that provider according to their own pricing and terms — CliBook never sees your API key or your AI usage.
3. How We Use Your Information
Because your data stays on your device, the limited information described above is used only for the following purposes:
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- To process AI-powered features (command generation, explanation, optimization) using the API key you provide
- To check for and deliver application updates
- To diagnose and fix application errors using the error reports described in Section 2.3
- To respond to support inquiries you choose to send us
4. AI Features and Data Processing
CliBook offers AI-powered features such as command generation, explanation, and optimization. These features use your own API key (bring-your-own-key, or "BYOK") for a supported AI provider — currently Anthropic or OpenAI. When you use these features, the text you input is sent directly to your chosen provider using your API key. We do not use your AI interactions to train models. The AI providers process data in accordance with their own privacy policies.
5. Data Storage and Security
All of your data — commands, snippets, folders, tags, and variables — is stored locally on your device in a local database. We do not operate cloud storage for your content and do not hold copies of it on our servers. Security measures include:
- API keys are stored in the operating system's secure keychain
- Encrypted transmission (TLS/HTTPS) for all outbound connections, such as AI requests, update checks, and error reports
- Encryption for sensitive data such as secret variables
While we strive to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with the following third-party services:
Anthropic / OpenAI
Used to power AI features when you provide your own API key. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy or OpenAI's Privacy Policy, depending on which provider you connect.
Sentry
Used for error tracking. Receives error reports — with sensitive fields automatically redacted — when the application encounters an error. Subject to Sentry's Privacy Policy.
7. Data Retention
Your data is stored locally on your device and remains entirely under your control. Uninstalling the application and deleting its data directory removes your data. We do not retain copies of your content because we never receive it. If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence only as long as needed to handle your inquiry, except where longer retention is required by law.
8. Your Rights
Because CliBook does not collect or store your personal data on our servers, most data rights are exercised directly on your own device, where your data lives. To the extent we hold any personal information about you (for example, email correspondence you send to support), depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data
- Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Objection: Object to certain processing of your personal data
- Withdrawal of consent: Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@clibook.app.
9. Cookies and Local Storage
CliBook is a desktop application and does not use browser cookies. However, the application stores data locally on your device using the operating system's standard application data directory. This includes your preferences, cached data, and locally stored commands.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
11. International Data Transfers
We do not transfer your personal data to our servers. If you use AI-powered features, the text you submit is sent directly from your device to your chosen AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI), which may process it in countries other than your own in accordance with its own privacy policy. Error reports sent to Sentry (see Section 2.3) may likewise be processed in other countries in accordance with Sentry's privacy policy.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
