CliBook doesn't sit between you and the AI provider's bill. Connect a key once, and every AI feature runs on your own provider account.

Get an API key

Sign up with Anthropic or OpenAI and grab an API key from their developer console.

Add it in Settings

Paste your key into CliBook's Settings. It's used to talk directly to your chosen provider.

Use AI, unlimited

Generate, explain, and optimize commands with no CliBook-imposed caps. You pay your provider directly, at their standard rates.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an API key to use CliBook?

No. Only AI-powered features (command generation, explanation, and optimization) require an API key. Everything else — the command library, snippets, folders, and scheduler — works without one.

Which AI providers are supported?

Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI. Add either one in Settings and choose which one powers your AI features.

How much does AI usage cost?

Whatever your provider charges for the models you use. CliBook doesn't add markup, credits, or usage caps of its own — you're billed directly by Anthropic or OpenAI according to their own pricing.

Do you store or see my API key?

No. Your API key is stored only on your device, in the operating system's secure keychain — it is never written to config files and never uploaded. AI requests are sent directly from your device to Anthropic or OpenAI; CliBook's servers never see your key or your AI traffic. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Is there still a paid plan?

No. CliBook no longer offers a paid subscription. Every feature is included for free. If you have questions, contact us at support@clibook.app.
